 Church of the Purification   of the Blessed Virgin Mary 

Archbishop Hartmayer has designated the Church of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary at Heritage as a pilgrimage site for Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope.

 

The pilgrimage opportunities will start on the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary | Presentation of the Lord on Sunday, February 2, 2025, and end on the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.

​The Church of the Purification is open to pilgrims throughout the year during these days and times (subject to change - please check the church schedule).​

Wednesday: 8:30 am – 10:30 am | Mass 9:00 am

Saturday: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm

Sunday: 11:00 am – 1:00 pm | Mass 11:30 am

In addition, pilgrims can schedule a visit outside of the public visiting hours by emailing retreat@heritagega.org.

Opportunities for Pilgrimage 

Requirements for Plenary Indulgence

A plenary indulgence can be obtained for Catholics who make a pilgrimage to the Church of the Purification during Jubilee 2025.

 

This will grant remission of temporal punishment for sin.

The requirements for the grace of a plenary indulgence are the ordinary established by the Catholic Church:

  

  • Visit to the Pilgrimage site

  • An Act of Mercy or Penance 

  • Attend confession within 20 days of visiting the Pilgrimage site

  • Receive Holy Communion within 20 days of visiting the Pilgrimage site 

  • Pray for the intentions of His Holiness Pope Francis at the Pilgrimage site

IMPORTANT NOTES:

  1. Confessions are not available. We encourage confession before the pilgrimage.

  2. Mass is celebrated at the Church of the Purification on Wednesdays and Sundays only.
